MPI and Tulare County: Marijuana & Opioid Prevention Summit

MPI was proud to participate in Tulare Counties Marijuana & Opioid Prevention summit hosted by the California National Guard a member of the Tulare County Prevention Coalition. The event was on September 26th at Living Christ Church. Over 200 people from different fields in prevention, treatment and Law enforcement attended. Information and resources were distributed to organize the community around the growing threat of drug use among our children.

Marijuana added to San Diego County's Social Host ordinance

Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department will soon be enforcing a change to the County's Social Host ordinance.

On May 21, 2019, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to approve an amendment adding marijuana to its Social Host ordinance. That means an adult who provides marijuana or alcohol to minors will face consequences. The updated ordinance will go into effect in 30 days. At that time, Sheriff's Deputies will begin to enforce it.

Marijuana and Housing Informational Session - Independent Living Association

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 10am – 12pm,  Joe Eberstein, Program Manager for the San Diego County Marijuana Prevention Initiative (MPI), and, Patrick Foley, Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor - McAlister Institute, will discuss new research surrounding marijuana use, how it affects mental illness, and, the use of it in multi-housing.

Proposition 64 Advisory Group

CCR is proud to announce that Joe Eberstein, Program Manager for the San Diego County Marijuana Prevention Initiative will be a member of the Proposition 64 Advisory group through the Dept. of Health Care Services. The purpose of the Prop 64 Advisory Group is to share emerging trends in youth substance use, make recommendations to DHCS on best practices for youth substance prevention, and provide feedback on YEPEITA-funded program assessment, implementation and evaluation.

MPI at OCENA Educational Conference - Orange County

MPI will be particiapting in the 2019 OCENA Educational Conference. The Orange County Emergency Nurses Association (OCENA) conference will be on August 6th at Children's Hospital in Orange County. Attendees will be discussing a range of topics including youth substance use. This will be the second year MPI has partnered with the ENA Orange Coast chapter.
