Marijuana Legalization and Youth Marijuana, Alcohol, and Cigarette Use and Norms

study recently released by the University of Washington finds that marijuana legalization and commercialization may have begun a reversal of previous downward trends in teen marijuana use. The study, which followed 230 teens and young adults, found that young people may be more likely to use marijuana after commercialization, due to normalization as a result of the over-saturation of stores, advertisements, and rapidly rising adult use of the drug.

Vaping Death in San Diego Raises Questions About Pot Use During Pandemic

As San Diego County begins to open up from the COVID-19 pandemic, questions regarding other public health dangers also warrant a closer look. On May 24, a San Diego woman reportedly died from a vaping-related lung injury known as EVALI (E-cig Vaping Associated Lung Injury). She is the fourth local victim of EVALI to be diagnosed during the pandemic.
