The United Nations (UN) says that the U.S. is failing to comply to an international drug treaty by allowing states to legalize adult-use cannabis.
Last month the UN’s International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) released its annual report of global drug control efforts. The agency appeared to criticize the U.S. for allowing states to legalize cannabis, claiming that doing so was in violation of the UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego city and county officials are coming together to raise awareness about the danger of fentanyl for National Fentanyl Awareness Day. This comes as overdose deaths continue to rise at an alarming rate throughout San Diego County.
Local students got a chance to learn more about fentanyl with a sobering visit with the man who sees the deaths firsthand.

Researchers found strong evidence of an association between cannabis use disorder and schizophrenia among men and women, though the association was much stronger among young men. Using statistical models, the study authors estimated that as many as 30% of cases of schizophrenia among men aged 21-30 might have been prevented by averting cannabis use disorder.

The outbreak of Covid-19 presented many dangers for children, and a new study suggests increased illicit substance ingestions were among them.In the first month of the pandemic in 2020, a 25% increase in overall ingestions occurred among children under 6 years old in the United States, according to the study published Friday in JAMA Network Open.

Cannabis may be driving a rising number of Americans to the brink of suicide, a study suggests.
Researchers who analyzed national poison center data found that the number of people who had marijuana in their system when they tried to kill themselves has risen 17 percent every year since 2009.
